We open the vehicle with automotive entry tools made for the job, so you can get your keys and get going. That includes Teslas (lockout only, see Tesla lockout).
What to have ready when you call
- Where the car is: an address, a trailhead name, or the nearest I-90 exit
- Year, make and model of the vehicle
- Whether the keys are visible inside, or you’re not sure where they are
- A photo ID and something that shows the car is yours (registration, title or insurance card). If those are locked inside, tell us and we’ll verify once the door is open.
If the keys aren’t in the car
Sometimes the car is locked and the keys are simply gone: dropped on a trail, left at a campsite, or lost somewhere between the river and the parking lot. That’s an all-keys-lost job, and we can usually make a new key on site for most vehicles. See our lost car keys page for how that works.
A child or pet locked inside
Call 911 first. Emergency responders can get there faster and are equipped for it. Call us after, or at the same time, if you still need help with the car.

How do you open a locked car without damaging it?
We use automotive entry tools designed to work the lock or the interior controls without forcing the door. The method depends on the vehicle.
Do you come out at night?
Yes. We’re available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays.
Do I have to prove the car is mine?
Yes. We ask for photo ID and proof of ownership before we hand over access. If your documents are inside the car, we check them once it’s open.
